About the artist

Artist Statement

The Irish landscape is a constant source of inspiration to me.  The play of light and shadow contrasted against dramatic skies, rolling hills  and rugged coastlines; all evoke memories of places once visited, in addition to stimulating thoughts of well-being and harmony.

My aim is to try and capture the essence of this beauty and share it with you, both in traditional and abstract form.

I like to work mainly in oils, manipulating its properties to create layers of rich texture.   I continue to work on my painting until I feel it can tell its own story.  Painting for me is a life-long learning experience and gives great  reward.

Should you have a special memory or photograph that you would like artistically interpreted, I would be happy to discuss this further with you.

About the Artist

Donna has had a varied career and has both worked and studied in the world of international banking and finance.  Somewhere along the line of juggling career, family and her involvement in community adult education, she decided to rekindle her childhood passion and turn to painting full-time.

She is largely self-taught and has developed a unique style, encompassing a diverse range of influences.   Donna strives to capture the restless elemental forces of the Irish landscape and to celebrate its timeless beauty in her work.

She also likes to explore the abstract world.  Employing the creative use of palette knives, creating rich textures in impasto style, resulting in a dynamic and raw energy.

Donna exhibits in selected galleries and group exhibitions in Ireland.  Her work is represented by many public and private collections both in Ireland and abroad.

Her paintings can be viewed most Sundays in Merrion Square, Dublin.
