Dogs Bay

Dogs Bay & Gurteen Bay are two of the most beautiful beaches in Connemara and they lay back to back.  They are my favourites.

Dogs Bay is a spectacular horseshoe shaped bay with more than a mile long stretch of white sandy beach. Similar to Gurteen Bay, the sand is made entirely of fragments of seashells which give it a pure white colour.

The area is internationally important for its rare and interesting ecological, geological and archaeological features.

Both beaches are considered safe for swimming and other watersports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
