Instrument Art and an artistic journey of a Violin
The Musical Youth Foundation, is a children’s charity. They aim to provide every child on the island of Ireland with a musical education.
They sent me an invitation! It was their wish to create a greater awareness of the value of music education and its life changing benefits through their campaign. Needless to say, I got drawn in on
the Artistic Journey of the Violin
“Music Changed My Life”
My challenge was to use the body of an instrument as a canvas, to create a “masterpiece” entirely of my own design.
My chosen instrument was a violin
I have come across this recently updated and comprehensive guide to buying a violin which I think might interest you:

Seeking Inspiration
Inspiration flowed from thoughts of music, love and nature. I photographed the violin in situ around my garden. There seemed to be a symmetry between the child learning the musical instrument , contrasted with the efforts of the spring flowers presenting themselves in their glory, despite the ever changing weather conditions.
Lots of ideas crowded my thoughts – it had to be something noble enough to suit this beautiful instrument.
I decided to wait a while and let the thoughts settle.
What would I paint? What medium, design, colour? Should I make it abstract?
Any ideas?
I invite you to come with me and see the journey of this violin and how it develops|
