Goat Island

Goat Island beach is nestled just 3 miles west of Ardmore in County Waterford, Ireland. It is a true gem, tucked away in a secluded inlet that faces south, offering shelter from the west by the island. To find this hidden paradise, you must traverse a winding lane, guided by the signpost. The moment you arrive, you’ll be captivated by the magical cove that emerges before your eyes – a sight that truly makes this journey worthwhile.

As an artist, I aimed to reflect this seascape with the tranquility and charm of this remote beach. This piece of art holds a special place in my heart, as it was featured in a solo exhibition titled “A Better Place,” which was curated by the Waterford Healing Arts Trust in University Hospital Waterford.  The exhibition “A Better Place” was conceived with a noble purpose – to bring solace and comfort to patients, visitors, and staff during the challenging times of Covid. It is an immense honour to know that my painting played a role in making the hospital environment a better and more soothing space. This inspiring initiative was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Arts Council.

Waterford also offers a myriad of other wonders to explore. Don’t miss the opportunity to venture along the Copper Coast, a scenic drive between Tramore and Dungarvan. Nature’s unspoilt beauty will unfold before your eyes, leaving you awe-inspired at every turn. Another favorite of mine is Dunmore East, a picturesque fishing village in the east of County Waterford. The serene atmosphere and captivating landscapes will leave you with cherished memories.
