Travel Adventure to Nepal – Pokhara – Day One
A seven hour bus journey takes us from Chitwan to Pokhara.
Some stops along the way and a point where two rivers meet which gives us an insight into the forces of the white water rapids. We traverse a narrow suspension bridge with magnificent scenery all around us and the lush mountains whisper to us – serenity!
Pokhara has an almost unobstructed view of the Annapurna mountain range and dominating the skyline is the double finned summit of Machhapuchchhre or Fishtail Peak. The sunny climate and icy peaks present a very dramatic view.
We arrive at Pokhara and evidence of mountain trekking, sky gliding, white water rafting activities is all around us. Colourful shops show off their wares and trekking gear, both original and fake is everywhere to be seen.
We stop by the International Mountain Museum to learn of the 14 highest peaks in the world and all those brave enough to climb them.
We also travel to a Tibetan refugee camp. We purchased some gifts along with a painting dish that I am so happy to have and we watched the carpet weavers at work.
A boat trip on the lake followed by dinner and dancing with the locals – what fun!
